[C-7] The Heavens Declare The Glory of God -- God's Plan of Redemption in the Stars

(15) And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.

In scripture we are told that the heavens declare the glory of God. In Genesis 1 we are told that God gave the sun, moon, stars, (and planets) for days, nights, signs, and seasons.
In any study such as this we need to be sure that the differences are clearly distinguished between astronomy which is the study of the universe, and astrology/horoscopes which are attempts to use stars and planets to foretell the future. For Jews and Christians astrology/horoscopes are clearly forbidden by God and anyone seeking to be obedient to the Lord and making any attempt to live a holy lifestyle in accordance with His Word will reject any dealings with them. Their origins are grouped along with other attempts by Satan to counter God’s Word. You can’t play around with the devices of Satan without being burned. Astronomy on the other hand is a study of God’s creation. Although much of astronomy has been secularized over the years and attempts have been made to omit any references to the Creator of all things, and used by those espousing evolution in an attempt to “prove” an old age for the universe, His handiwork is clearly visible to any who are sincerely searching for truth. From the very beginning of recorded history mankind has visualized shapes and patterns in the stars. The Zodiac {Mazzaroth in Job} which contains 12 primary constellations, each of which contains 3 “sub” constellations dates back to the earliest of all records which are found literally all over the world. In looking at the stars the shapes of the constellations are not readily apparent even to a trained eye; yet all of the Zodiacs from all over the world are consistent in the general shapes of the constellations. This alone tends to imply that not only do all of the Zodiacs from all over the world have a common origin, but that at one time they also had a common “story” or meaning that was passed down from generation to generation. For the Christian, even a quick glance at the names of the constellations suggests that each constellation tells a different aspect of God’s great Plan of Salvation. This becomes even more apparent when the ancient names of the constellations are examined in more detail. In the Jewish tradition Adam is original source of the Zodiac and its meaning.
The sphinx of ancient Egypt has always been a curiosity. On the ceiling of the portico of the Temple of Esneh in Egypt the sphinx is displayed between the constellations Virgo and Leo. The sphinx itself has the head of a woman and a body of a lion. The implication is that the “head” or starting place of the Zodiac story begins with Virgo the virgin and ends with Leo the lion.
In Genesis we find out about the 12 sons of Israel, about prophecies about them given before Jacob’s death {Gen. 49}, and how in one of Joseph’s dreams Jacob immediately recognized that the sun and the moon referred to himself and his wife Sarah and that the stars referred to his sons {Gen. 37:10}. In Numbers 2 we see that the layout of how God had Moses organize the twelve tribes of Israel when they made camp in the wilderness clearly follows the layout of the Zodiac based upon the prophecies of Jacob and how each tribe had its own “ensign” (banner) that was to be posted where its tribe was to camp. It is highly probable that these banners each contained one of the constellations of the Zodiac which represented each of the twelve tribes.

The brightest star in Virgo is the Hebrew name Tsemech ( ) . in Arabic it is Al Zimach which means the Branch – it has come down to us with the Latin name Spica which also means an ear of corn. It appears in Virgo’s left hand in the ear of corn. There 20 Hebrew words translated as Branch, but the Hebrew word Tsemech occurs in scripture only 4 times and always refers to the Messiah. (p. 32)

Virgo – a deliverer will come forth from a Virgin – the Seed of a woman
Libra – Man is under a curse and a price must be paid for redemption
Scorpio – the price must be paid by the death of the Redeemer, but by dying He must destroy the Serpent the devil
Sagittarius – The great Dragon will seek to corrupt mankind
Capriconrius – Man will become so sinful as to leave no remedy but a Great Flood to destroy the earth
Aquarius – the floodgates of heaven will fill the earth, but God will provide a remnant of people and animals to replenish the earth
Pisces – from the waters will come the true people of God, God reigns upon the throne despite the attacks of Satan
Aries – The Ram or Lamb of God will pay the price for mankind’s sins, Redeem His Bride, and destroy the works of the Dragon
Taurus – The slain Ram or Lamb of God though He will die will rise as a mighty Bull to execute judgment on all ungodliness and rule supreme
Gemini – as both God and Man the second Adam will claim His Bride taking her to Himself forever
Cancer – All the redeemed of all ages will come to Him and remain securely in His presence for all eternity (the “cancer” of sin will be gone forever)
Leo – The eternal King of Kings and Lord of Lords – the Lion of the tribe of Judah, will utterly vanquish and destroy the Serpent and his followers forever.
