  Genesis
Introduction

This study on the book of Genesis was started as a companion study to our study on the book of Revelation. Genesis shows us beginnings, the Revelation shows us the end of life as we now know it. The access to the "Tree of Life" which was lost in Genesis is restored in the Revelation. "Paradise Lost" in Genesis is "Paradise Regained" in the Revelation. Genesis begins with our Creator creating the present heavens and earth; Revelation ends with our Creator creating a new heavens and new earth.

Many of the subjects we covered in our Revelation study could easily be a part of this study as well. However, in order to avoid as much duplication as possible I have retained only two sections from the Revelation study in this study. The first is the authorship of the book of Genesis, which although I considered it relevant to our Revelation study, is much more relevant to this study. The second is the world time line chronology. Although the world time line chronology is essential to a basic understanding of the Revelation, I have included that chronology here for two reasons: one -- to show the order of events contained in the book of Genesis, and second to show that although many do not believe the book of Genesis contains events that actually occurred historically, the fact is that all scripture is consistent and the chronology of Genesis is 100% accurate within itself and in relation to the rest of scripture.

I wrestled with the idea of also including in this study my notes on the use of numbers in scripture which is covered extensively in our Revelation study. Although the use of numbers in Genesis is completely consistent with the use of numbers throughout scripture, I decided that duplicating those notes here although helpful, was not essential to our study. Anyone wanting those notes may receive them upon request.

The primary goals of this and all our studies are four-fold: first, to help each of us draw closer in love to our heavenly Father and His only Son, our Lord Jesus Christ; second, to give us confidence in our salvation through Jesus Christ; third, faith and trust that our Lord is in complete control; and fourth, that every single letter and word of scripture is important and all will be fulfilled.
