| 15If
ye love me, keep my commandments.
16And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; 17Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. 18I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. 19Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also. 20At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you. 21He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. (John 14:15-21 AKJ) |

16And I will pray to the Father, and He will give you another Comforter, that He may abide with you for ever; 17Even the Spirit of truth; Whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him, nor know Him: but you know Him; because He lives with you, and will be in you. 18I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. 19In yet a little while, and the world will see Me no more; but you see Me: because I live, you will live also. 20At that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you. 21He who has My commandments, and keeps them, he it is who loves Me: and he who loves Me will be loved of My Father, and I will love him, and will manifest Myself to him. 12He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. 13These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. (I John 5:12-13 AKJ) |

5And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him: 6For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. 7If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? 8But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons. 9Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live? 10For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness. (Heb. 12: 5-10 AKJ) |
5And you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks to you as to children, My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when you are rebuked by Him: 6Because those whom the Lord loves He chastens, and scourges every son whom He receives. 7If you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons; because what son is there whom the Father does not chasten? 8But if you are not being chastened, by which all are partakers, then you are bastards, and not sons. 9Furthermore we have had earthly fathers who corrected us, and we gave them reverence: should we not much more be in subjection to the Father of spirits, and live? 10Because they surely chastened us for a few days after their own pleasure; but He for our profit, that we might be partakers of His holiness. Our salvation
is not based on our faithfulness; if it were we would all loose our
salvation. Our salvation is based on the promise of God. He
is always faithful even when we are unfaithful to Him. As long as
we are in these mortal bodies we will continue to make mistakes, and
even at times rebel against God. If we have accepted Jesus Christ as
our personal Lord and Savior, He has promised to discipline us to
whatever extent is necessary to bring us back into His will. I John
1:8-9 {quoted above} was written to Christians, not unbelievers.
